+ Tuesday, January 21 at 7:00pm Gesu will be hosting John W. Hardy, former Freedom Rider.  Mr. Hardy will use his personal story as a Freedom Rider and SNCC Field Representative to lead a discussion about the continuing reverberations of the Civil Rights Struggle in today's society.  Meeting in the School Social Hall, use the Quincy St. entrance.

+ Pancake Breakfast to welcome to parishioners and staff Sunday, January 26 after both the 8:00 & 10:30 Masses.  In the School Social Hall.  Donations of $10 per family/ $4 per individual are requested.

+ Looking ahead: Gesu will be celebrating a Season of Nonviolence organized by the Peace & Justice Committee.  Please consider adding your time and talent to this effort.  Soup makers, babysitters (with Protecting God's Children training) and folks to set up and take down tables are all needed.  Please contact Marge, 248-225-0564 if you can help.  Thank you!

+ Everyone is invited to a presentation by Fr. Vic Clore, Pastor of Christ the King on "What Solidarity Looks Like Today."  Tuesday, Feb. 4 from 6:30 to 8:30pm at Traffic Jam & Snug restaurant, food and drink are available for purchase.  Register online at

+ According to the Homeless Action Network of Detroit, there may be 14,000 homeless people in Detroit.  Help Gesu help these people during February, Gesu's Homeless Ministry Month.  You will be able to help serve a meal at the Pope Francis Warming Center on Feb. 10 or at St. Christine's Soup Kitchen on Feb. 25.  We will also be working with the NOAH Project making lunches and putting together hygiene kits.  Please see the sign up lists in the Social Area of the Church for details!

+ Save the Date: Kathy Kelly will be speaking at the University of Detroit Mercy on February 12 at 7:00pm on "Nonviolent Resistance to Forever Wars" in the Life Sciences Building, Room 113.  Everyone is invited.
